Photography and Cake

Wedding photography is one of the most expensive things when it comes to planning a budget. Photographers charge quite a bit for you to use their services. They charge you not only to take the pictures, but most of them charge you to buy and print the pictures as well.

We found someone that was just starting out and needed photos for her portfolio. She did our engagement pictures for free and we had no obligation to purchase any of the pictures. She was really good and we are considering her for our wedding as well.

You can find inexpensive ways to capture the moments of your wedding. You can have a family member take pictures for you, but you run the risk of the photos being amateur. You can also just let people take pictures as they wish and see how that works. That can also be very risky.

Local colleges are another place to look. Most undergrad students are looking for work and if you give them a chance I'm sure they will do your pictures for very cheap.

You can put disposable cameras on the tables at the reception so your guests and capture candid photos of their own and you won't have to hire the photographer for the entire reception.

The cake tasting may just be one of the best parts about planning a wedding. Who doesn't want to go from store to store and try different types of cakes? There are so many to choose from whether it is different styles, flavors, icing, or color. The possibilities are essentially endless. I cannot wait until I go out and try these cakes (although I already have a cake flavor in mind).
You want to keep it simple. This is a reoccurring theme when it comes to budgeted weddings. The simpler the cake the cheaper it is.

My personal dream cake would be red velvet cake, three tiers all odd rectangle/square shapes with white chocolate fondant and a green sash like ribbon around the middle layer. It would be very easy to put a topper on and it would make for plenty of cake for everyone.

If you really want to save money find the family baker. I'm sure they can test some ideas out and come up with a cake that is much less expensive than buying one, and there is that sentimental family value behind it. It may make grandma's day if you go ask her to make your wedding cake.

Another cute idea is having cupcakes instead of cake. That is an inexpensive alternative to a wedding cake and can still taste and look just as good. That way there is less mess and everyone gets the same size to eat.

Thinking of this is making me very hungry. YUMMY CAKES!
