How to Make Money From Landscape Photography

Landscape photography is a hobby pursued by many people all over the World, some of them buying all the correct equipment for it, and others just using a family camera to take a few snaps here and there. What a lot of people do not know is that there is a constant demand for the photographs that are taken in many different industries. People like you could be making extra money just by doing something that they enjoy and which has just seen before as an extra activity to pass the time.

There are many competitions that are run for photographers, some just for recognition but many will actually have top prizes. It could be a cash prize, or even a holiday somewhere exotic, just for taking the time to send the best pictures you have taken in. Many newspapers, magazines and websites are always running landscape photography competitions, and not just those dedicated to photography. Community newsletters, local groups and the suchlike are also a great place to send your competition entries in. Just by searching for competitions on the internet, you could soon be sending in your best loved snaps.

Many websites that sell stock images to companies and magazines are constantly looking for people to send in their landscape photography. These pictures are then featured on things like holiday brochures and websites, or even for places like National Parks. Many geographical websites are always looking for new pictures to post up, and these are supplied by stock image sites. A bit of research into this could see you pocketing the dollars just for sending in a bulk load of images you have, and these companies will pay you by the picture, as long as it is what they are looking for.

If you want to cut out the middle man, you can always construct your own portfolio of a range of different images, and then send these out to websites and magazines yourself. Landscape photography is featured in so many different genres of press that you could soon see your own picture of your local park featured on a tourism website, or in a newspaper. Freelance photography is a tough industry to get into, but with enough determination you could certainly be selling your pictures and making extra money for doing something you love doing anyway!

As already mentioned, landscape photography is a popular hobby, and one people really do enjoy. If you're looking for a sure fire way of making some spare money, maybe for a photography holiday, or even just to keep the bills away, then there are literally so many ways you can do it. Keeping alert and staying in the loop of what is going on in the photography business is the best way to make sure you do not miss out on any of the competitions, or websites looking for certain pictures to keep themselves updated. You do not need to make it a full time job, and can keep just taking the photos you love, but this time, for money.
