The Best Photography Locations in Lancashire

Whether you are looking to simply expand your portfolio or you require an outdoor shoot for the front cover of a magazine then it is important to have a dramatic and recognisable location for maximum impact. In Lancashire there are numerous stunning locations where you can take free photographs to your hearts content. If you are a keen photographer in Lancashire then it is highly likely you will be aware of some of these places we are going to look at already, however hopefully there will be a few surprises to wet your appetite.

1. Pendle Hill

Pendle Hill makes for an imposing and beautiful landscape photo. The size and unusual shape of this landmark means it is possible to get numerous amazing photos from different angles and the landscape shot lends itself excellently to HDR. Pendle Hill is located near Clitheroe in the centre of Lancashire.

2. Clitheroe Castle

The elevated position of Clitheroe Castle makes it an excellent location to take photographs from, but it is also a recognisable and impressive backdrop in itself. It is open to the public 24 hours a day which means if you are a photographer in Lancashire you are free to take photographs at any time day or night.

3. Blackpool

Blackpool is an excellent place to take pictures of people and animals. The iconic nature of the town provides an endless number of photo opportunities. Donkeys on the beach, Blackpool Tower, an old couple eating icecream on a bench... the possibilities are endless.

4. Stonyhurst College

The water around Stonyhurst College makes it the ideal place for dramatic reflection shots. The stunning architecture and surrounding countryside of this school will make the photographer's job easy. It is possible to get amazing shots from outside the grounds, however if you wish to go within the grounds then you will need to get permission as it is private.

5. Morecombe Bay

This is the best place for wildlife photographers in Lancashire due to the vast number of birds that inhabit the bay. The shots will look impressive regardless of the weather conditions.

These are just a couple of the countless locations for photographers in Lancashire to visit. The best thing about these places is that they get you out and about but they are completely free to visit. Whether you are an amateur just starting out or a seasoned professional visiting these locations will be a rewarding trip.
